HOW TO GET RID OF AND PREVENT BLACKHEADS?

Blackheads are a frequent cause for consultation. They appear on men and women of all ages, not just teenagers.
The grainy, untidy appearance of the skin is often unpleasant for the person consulting us.
Anti-aging medicine has developed treatments to get rid of blackheads and prevent their appearance.

What is a blackhead?

There are two types of blackheads: false blackheads caused by pollution clogging dilated pores, and real blackheads, as detailed below.

Blackheads, also known as open comedones, are caused by the accumulation of sebum and keratinocytes in the pilary canal. Oxidation of the keratinocytes gives the black color.
The location is the T-zone of the face (chin, nose, forehead), the most seborrheic area of the face.
In these conditions, bacterial superinfection, notably with Proprionibacteri acne, is easy, and the blackhead risks evolving into a papule or pustule.

What causes blackheads?

There are many factors responsible for the appearance of blackheads:

  • Comedogenic products: some cosmetics clog pores.
  • Hormones: during adolescence, rising androgen levels stimulate sebum production. In women, blackheads appear during pregnancy, menopause or after taking certain pills.
  • Genetics: people with oily or combination skin are more prone to blackheads.
  • Unhealthy lifestyle: smoking and a diet rich in fats and fast sugars encourage the appearance of blackheads.

How do I remove blackheads? Possible treatments

In anti-aging medicine, there are several treatments available to get rid of blackheads and prevent their appearance.
Why shouldn't blackheads be pierced? Blackheads should not be pierced, as this encourages infection of the contents of the pilary canal by Propionibacteri acne, and the blackhead will then develop into a papule or pustule.

HydraFacial for blackheads

LThe HydraFacial is the most effective treatment for eliminating blackheads. Pores are unclogged, dead cells exfoliated and sebum sucked out. By the end of the session, this unsightly appearance is a thing of the past.

Peel to get rid of blackheads

The fruit acids in the peel exfoliate the skin, unclogging pores and reducing sebum production. The skin must be prepared three weeks before the session, by applying a glycolic acid cream every evening.
