The folds of bitterness are wrinkles that start from the corner of the mouth and descend towards the chin, the worsening of which is gradual and inevitable.
These are the wrinkles that age the face and give an air of bad mood.
The appearance of the fold of bitterness is multifactorial:
- The contraction of the facial skin muscles, especially the DAO muscle which pulls the corners of the lips downwards.
- Skin sagging and infero-internal ptosis of internal fat.
- The loss of support by the fat that melts at the level of the labial mouth, and bone aging.
Several stages exist

Stage 0
No groove

Stage 4
Very severe nasolabial folds

Stage 1
Light nasolabial folds

Stage 2
Moderate nasolabial folds

Stage 3
Severe nasolabial folds
POSSIBLE TREATMENTS

Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is used to lift fallen malarial tissues over time because they are responsible for the appearance of these folds.
So we do not inject the folds directly to avoid weighing down the face.
If after the lift step the fold persists, it is injected.
Depending on the type of fold, is chosen a hyaluronic acid moderately crosslinked type Restylane or highly crosslinked type RestylanePerlane. The injection is made at the level of the fold and in an imaginary triangle located under the labial commissure, to give a support to the commissures of the lips and to raise them slightly.
The product stays in place between eight months and two years, depending on the severity of the crease, the age of the patient and the product used.
Threads
Threads improve or treat the bitterness fold by lifting the ptosed tissues.
They are often associated with injections of hyaluronic acid because they are not enough to lift the fat (they can lift well than the skin) and due to ptosis it is only one of the etiologies of these folds.
